Here's a new mixtape I made especially for Occupy the Disco (OXD). The title, "Makes Me Wanna Give It," is a nod to the Duke Dumont track, 'Giver' that has made the crowd go absolutely wild at previous OXD events (both Aeroplane and The Magician played the track at the climax of their sets). I've built the mixtape around that track and created an energizing, dance ready house mix that will have you itching to find a dancefloor.

It all started when someone asked me the question: what songs would be on the soundtrack of your life?

When it comes to feelings, i certainly am not the most articulate person. That probably explains why I'm so obsessed with music, it's therapeutic as it helps me articulate how I feel. Whether I'm up or down, I always find it's best to commiserate with that which I find closest to me, my songs. I'm not sure you're aware but every Ru-Mix i put out tells a story, with a beginning, middle and end, and it's a snapshot of what is going through my head at that time. With my 31st birthday quickly approaching, and hitting a milestone of 100 mixes, I wanted to share my story, of the past 10 years of my life. Summer 2010 was the best summer I've ever had. In fact, I still have a bit of a summer hangover so I've created a great "goodbye summer" mix. Our favorite artists such as Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Robyn are featured in stripped down, loungey versions of their songs--perfect "morning music" in my opinion. Of course, it features some new songs as well but all of it works into the summery vibe. This mix is very chill, more of a morning (after?) vibe if you know what I mean. You still get that disco/ house groove but it's much more mellow. Prefect for poolside lounging. Miami Horror and Casey Spooner will have you longing for summer and Sam Sparro and Hercules & Love Affair will get those dancing feet primed for part II of this mix.

When people ask me what my favorite type of music is my favorite (a question that is truly hard to answer) I invariably say disco. Something about that 4/4 beat will get me going every time. That's why this mix is really my baby. The beginning is fun, shiny solid gold disco featuring Monarchy (I'm obsessed!), Uffie, Katy Perry, and new disco favs, Treasure Fingers. The mix then takes a turn for disco's new era, house with new classics like "Your Eyes," "Waiting", and a new "Royal T" mix that will have you yearning for club days from the 90s. Then jump on Benny Benassi's "Spaceship" and go "Around the World" with our favorite Brazilian boytoy, Jesus Luz! Finally disco is brought back to this century with Lady Gaga, Ellie Goulding and a Monarchy encore.
